The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s World Trade Center houses numerous public agencies and multiple private sector organizations. The nine-structure complex in lower Manhattan represents one of the world’s largest security challenges. The 16-acre campus simultaneously incorporates operational, security and life safety challenges associated with high-rise buildings, mass transit, retail, vehicle screening and iconic public spaces. Each of the nine properties has the discretion to incorporate different manufacturers of video management, access control, elevator controls, building management, fire alarms and communications platforms.
When the WTC 9/11 Memorial opened on 9/11/11, (with VidSys as the operating platform) it hosted an average of 1,500 visitors per hour. As more buildings open the complexities and requirements to protect tens of thousands of tenants and visitors continues to grow. The WTC site incorporates security stakeholders that include: Port Authority Police; the New York City Fire Department; site leaseholder – Silverstein Properties; property managers – Durst Organization, CBRE, Cushman & Wakefield and Brookfield Office Properties; the WTC Memorial; WTC Construction; the Lower Manhattan Security Initiative; and assets of the New York City Police Department.
VidSys PSIM integrates access control, video surveillance, fire alarm, HVAC, sensor monitoring, intrusion detection and other systems into a unified command and control system. VidSys PSIM provides a consistent and intuitive interface for operations personnel, allowing them to focus on developing situations rather than individually operating the many subsystems needed to deliver timely data and execute critical response actions.
